Spinal decompression therapy using a decompression traction system (DTS)
is a non-invasive, non-surgical, comfortable traction therapy for the relief of back and leg pain or neck and arm pain through the use of a decompression table. During this procedure, by cycling through distraction and relaxation phases and by proper positioning, a spinal disc can be isolated and placed under negative pressure, causing a vacuum effect within it. Because of that negative pressure, disc material that has protruded or herniated can be pulled back within the normal confines of the disc, and permit healing to occur.
In the past, doctors would treat many of these disorders with oral medication, injections, prescribed periods of rest, physical therapy, and conservative chiropractic care. These treatments can still be helpful, but they don’t always eliminate the pain. Patients with persistent cases would have no other alternative but surgical. Now the spinal decompression table and its therapy presents a new option from chronic pain without the risk, pain, expense, and lengthy recovery periods associated with surgical procedures.
